Whilst we’re still on the ‘BUNGEE’ Theme after my last post about my Bungee Jump and Harnessed Catapult Bungee, I thought I would share a nostalgic post about a bucket list item that I ticked off back in 2004 when I had first started dating my partner and before we had our daughter together. He took me to Paris for the weekend and we spent most of the weekend wandering around hand-in-hand taking in the sights and scenes of Paris. We also managed to go and watch a show at the Lido, which I would highly recommend! At the time, we were both living on a shoestring financially, with him still training and me still a recent divorced Mummy, so this was a major treat (actually it still would be)…
Sadly we lost our camera on that trip on the French subway, but one lasting photographic memory we do still have (apart from a few snaps we subsequently took with a disposable camera) is a DVD that we purchased from a bungee ball ride that we discovered in a fun fair that was set up in a par that we found whilst we were taking a stroll between the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
I can’t remember how much the ride cost now, or the DVD, but I do remember it being quite an extravagance at the time, and I think I might have tried to persuade my boyfriend that we would get a good view of the Eiffel tower from high up in the ride… As you will see from the video-that was really quite impossible (although the tower is actually behind the camera’s eye view for most of the time)… If you listen carefully, you can hear him ask me if I enjoyed said view towards the end, and I go from a semi-scream/semi-laugh to a hearty belly laugh because I realised that my previous comment to him was completely ridiculous!
It was the first time I had really done anything like this, and what happens with my hair in this video is the reason that I wear my hear braided for all extreme experiences or active pursuits that you have seen subsequently.
